FALL-LINE MOTORSPORTS CTSC TRIO HAS MIXED RESULTS AT ROAD AMERICA

Elkhart Lake, WI (August 11, 2014) – Fall-Line Motorsports fielded three BMW M3s in the GS category at Road America this weekend as part of the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase. Road America is essentially a home race for the team, as their race shop in nearby Illinois is just 125 miles away. Team owner Mark Boden and Fall-Line club racing regular Jack Kachadurian drove the #47 to finish P16 and Andrew Longe returned to co-drive with Shelby Blackstock in the #48 and finished P18. Championship leader Trent Hindman and John Edwards

started from the pole position in Saturday’s race but finished fourth in a dramatic race from start to end.

Edwards qualified on pole and started the race. Team strategists expected quite a bit of yellow and their prediction was spot on. Edwards drove a strong stint and pitted from P2 to hand over to Hindman who rejoined in first as the Fall-Line crew did another great pitstop to leapfrog the competition. Hindman then put his head down and set the second-fastest lap of the race and amassed a 6-second lead over the field. During another full-course caution, the entire field made final pit stops but Hindman was beat leaving the pits because another competitor only took two tires. He re-started the race from P2 and the top-five had a dogfight to the end. Trent was playing it smart, maintaining a clean drive. In a one-lap shoot-out at the end Hindman got squeezed from 3rd to 4th at the checkered flag as he drove a wise, savvy race.

#46 Trim-Tex/ Cirocco & Ozzimo/ Atlas Acon/ DFL Interiors/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes: Finished P4.

John Edwards: “It was an interesting race. It looked like we had a podium there in the final laps, as we expected it to stay yellow. Suddenly, it went back to green for one lap. Unfortunately, the gearing on the Camaro works really well out of turn five and ours doesn’t work so well out of five. I think Trent had nothing he could do there when he got passed my Robin (Liddell). It would have taken a heavy block to keep him behind. It was a little disappointing, especially as the Subaru dropped back, and Robin was able to get him at the line. That was another couple of points they scored on us in the championship. It’s a disappointing end to a strong day, but at the end of the day, we’re competitive at every race, and that’s what we need to keep up for the last few races for the championship.”

Trent Hindman: “I am definitely happy with a solid top-five run. John’s qualifying effort really helped us get off to a good start, and he drove a great stint to bring me the car from the front. For a while we we’re looking great but unfortunately those restarts really hurt us in the end. A huge thank you to everyone at Fall-Line for giving us a great car as per usual. Also a massive thanks to our partners Trim-Tex, Cirocco & Ozzimo, Atlas Acon, and DFL Interiors. Really looking forward to VIR.”

Team owner Mark Boden was back behind the wheel of a BMW M3 and brought a new co-driver in Jack Kachadurian who is a long-time Fall-Line driver in SCCA. This was Kachadurian’s first professional race and his first race in the BMW M3 in CTSC specifications. Kachadurian did a fantastic job and qualified the car P15 and was running in the top-ten before an off-track excursion left him stuck in the gravel outside of turn eight. Kachadurian recovered, only lost one lap, and made a pit stop to allow Boden to finish out the race. It was a victory for the Chicago native to complete his first 2.5-hour race in such a highly competitive field.

#47 Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes:

Mark Boden: “I am really proud of Jack and the fantastic job he did in his first GS race. It was great to drive with him at our home track and see how far along he has come. It was another flawless performance by the whole team and I am grateful for all of their hard work and effort this season. It will be an exciting next few races and hopefully we can continue our path to win the Championship.”

Jack Kachadurian: “As my first foray into professional racing, I have to consider this weekend a success. Having never driven the car before, I knew I had a lot of ground to cover this weekend. Thankfully, as usual, the Fall-Line guys prepped a great car that helped me progress throughout the weekend. Mark and I battled a brake issue throughout the race, but we were able to bring it home with a respectable finish.”

Andrew Longe returned as Shelby Blackstock’s co-driver after he missed the last round at Indianapolis. Longe started the race in P17 and kept his nose clean during the first stint for Blackstock. Blackstock got behind the wheel and was running as high as P6 before he missed a shift and damaged the motor with just six laps remaining in the race. It was a disappointing finish for the car that landed on the podium for the last round at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

#48 Starstruck/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes: Finished P18

Shelby Blackstock: “Today didn’t workout for the #48 Fall-Line Motors BMW M3. I made a mistake towards the end of the race that made us retire the car. It is very unfortunate for the team and I hope we have better luck next race.”

Andrew Longe: “Today did not end how we would have liked it to. We had good pace in the beginning stint of the race and the team did a fantastic pit stop to put us into contention for a podium. Shelby had a great first stint but motor issues plagued our hope of a podium in the closing laps of the race. This is a learning year for me as I continue to build my experience from every race. I am very happy with the improvements from Canadian Tire Motorsports Park and I am looking forward to Virginia International Raceway in just two week’s time. A huge thank you to everyone on the Fall Line Motorsports team for the countless hours of work they put towards the program!”

Michael Harvey, Fall-Line Motorsports Team Manager: “We experienced some mixed emotions at our home event, but once again the Fall-Line Motorsports BMW proved to be very competitive and although Road America is better suited to other platforms we feel pretty satisfied with our result. I cannot thank our whole crew enough for their time, effort and dedication to this program and they just get stronger and stronger each event. Today we had great pit work coupled with insightful strategy and great driving. We really look forward to the last three events of 2014. As always a huge Thank you to Trim-Tex, Ozzimo Cirroco, Atlas Acon and DFL for their amazing support.”

FALL-LINE EXTENDS CTSC POINTS LEAD IN CANADA

Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada (July 13, 2014) – Fall-Line Motorsports’ day at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park didn’t quite end as the GS team had hoped, but in the end, it was a positive one and ended on a high. Trent Hindman started second in his BMW M3 and he and co-driver John Edwards finished fourth. Shelby Blackstock returned behind the wheel of his machine with a new co-driver in Andrew Longe and the pair started and finished in seventeenth.

The #46 drivers started out brilliantly at a track that wasn’t conducive for much on-track passing. The Camaros seemed to have a competitive advantage over the field and Hindman settled in to fourth during his stint. Edwards got behind the wheel and held the lead after a great pit stop by the Fall-Line crew but lost it in his final stop because the fuel nozzle couldn’t fully engage due to the car’s position in the pit box. In the end, Edwards held on for fourth and this gave Hindman a six-point lead in the Championship standings.

#46 Trim-Tex/ Cirocco & Ozzimo/ Atlas Acon/ DFL Interiors/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes: Finished P4

Trent Hindman: “I think P4 was a good way to bounce back from the last two races which were pretty difficult for us. It was a little disappointing finishing where we did after we had the lead for a while but I think that was the true pace of the car. I don’t really think there was much more in it to stay ahead of the Camaros and the Mustangs. Overall all the Fall-Line guys did a fantastic job on pit lane and all throughout the weekend giving us a great car to really compete with all those other guys. I know we are really looking forward to Indy as historically we’ve had a strong car there in past years. Again, a big thanks to Trim-Tex, Cirocco & Ozzimo, Atlas Acon, DFL Interiors, and the National Kidney Foundation for all the support!”

John Edwards: “Well, it was a good points day but it was a little frustrating because nobody could pass. I only saw one pass and it was a Mustang passing a Mustang so it wasn’t too exciting. But, it was really on edge the whole race because the track was very low grip and greasy so it made it pretty tough. We lost a few spots in the pits because I was a little far from the wall and the fueler struggled to get the hose in so we lost a couple spots and probably a podium because of that. In the end it was still a good points day and we were ahead of all the cars we needed to be and extended our lead so Trent is back with a bit of a margin over the 13.”

Andrew Longe drove his first professional sportscar race today and though the results don’t necessarily show it, it was a small success. Longe had a steep learning curve this weekend stepping into a new car and a new track but welcomed the challenge. Shelby helped him to acclimate quickly and had Andrew not been the victim of an unavoidable incident involving a ST car, they would have finished much higher. But, this weekend was a learning experience for Longe and Indy is coming up next.

#48 Starstruck/ Trianon Hotels/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes: Finished P17

Shelby Blackstock: “Unfortunately it’s not how the #48 Fall-Line team wanted their day to go. Andrew had contact in the very beginning of the stint, which wasn’t his fault- an ST car hit him and knocked out the right rear tow so the car was hurt throughout most of the race. I’m not sure where we finished but it was further back. It’s unfortunate for the team but hopefully we can go to Indy and get a good finish. Thanks to everyone for all of their hard work and hopefully we can get a better result next time!”

Andrew Longe: “Unfortunately our race did not unfold as we had hoped today. In the early laps of the race we were the victim of an incident with a ST car that was out of our control. Shelby had a great stint in the car and we were able to get back on the lead lap despite the adversity we faced early on in the race. I am using this weekend as a learning experience and I know myself and the entire Fall-Line team are working very hard to build off of our progress this weekend so we can translate what we have learned here into a strong finish at Indianapolis.”

Michael Harvey, Fall-Line Motorsports Team Manager: “Not a bad day for the Fall-Line Motorsports BMWs. After a few tough events it was nice to run a clean trouble-free event and extend our points lead. All of our guys drove well and it was nice to see Andrew complete his first CTSC event although he did get assaulted by an ST car early. We now head off to Indy where we won last year.”

Next up is Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 24-25.

EDWARDS AND HINDMAN FACE MORE ADVERSITY AT WATKINS GLEN IN CTSC

Watkins Glen, NY (June 29, 2014) – All started well for the sole Fall-Line BMW M3 for the Continental Tire 150 at the Glen earlier today as John Edwards and Trent HIndman started the 2.5-hour race in third position. Just before halfway, misfortune struck the talented duo when Edwards was forced into a situation by another competitor that unfortunately compromised the car. Ultimately, this contact caused suspension damage that led to a blown tire. The points-leading car took the checkered flag from pit lane while getting repaired and were classified P19 at the close of the race.

Hindman started the race and drove a masterful stint maintaining his starting position and pitting from P4 when Edwards got in the car. The team made a fantastic pit stop, which put Edwards out in P1. He made contact with the #9 Camaro driven by Andy Lally that bent the suspension on the left side of the car. From then on Edwards drove with a damaged racecar and was running P16, still on the lead lap when the left rear tire blew causing further damage to the left side of the car. He made a pit stop to get a new tire and repair as much damage of the fender as possible, but unfortunately the bodywork was so damaged that the new tire was rubbing and he was forced to pit again.

This race weekend marks the second in a row where the #46 has been plagued with ill fortune but the entire Fall-Line crew and both drivers know they have what it takes to win the GS Championship. Edwards was understandably very upset with the outcome and both be and Hindman are true competitors who strive for perfection each and every time they step into the racecar. There is still a lot of racing left in the 2014 season and rest-assured the #46 will be back in victory lane before you know it.

#46 Trim-Tex/ Cirocco & Ozzimo/ Atlas Acon/ DFL Interiors/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes:

John Edwards: “Most of what I have to say shouldn’t be said publicly, but it’s a disappointing day. I feel especially bad for Trent, who did a great job in his stint. I think we were faster on old tires than the Camaros so we could have won today.”

Trent Hindman: “Our race was definitely character building. We were so strong in the early stages of the race; it was really a bummer when John got hit. I’m still incredibly proud of the whole Fall-Line crew for all of their hard work throughout the whole weekend. Also, a big thank you goes out to partners Trim-Tex, Cirocco & Ozzimo, Atlas Acon, and DFL Interiors. Really looking forward to getting back at it at Mosport, where our BMW will definitely be strong!”

Michael Harvey, Fall-Line Motorsports Team Manager: “Very disappointed to meet adversity in this way, both John and Trent drove great races and we had a car capable of winning today. Fortunately we are still leading the points as we take the Fall-Line BMWs north of the border.”

The next race for the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge will be at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park on Saturday, July 12.

FALL-LINE MOTORSPORTS MAKES THE MOST OUT OF A TOUGH SITUATION AT KANSAS

Kansas City, KS (June 9, 2014) – Fall-Line Motorsports completed the fifth race of the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge season on Saturday at Kansas Speedway and came into the weekend with a 25-point lead in GS Championship standings with drivers John Edwards and Trent Hindman. Shelby Blackstock and Ashley Freiberg were back in their BMW M3 after missing the last round at Lime Rock Park. Edwards and Hindman came down with engine gremlins early in the race which didn’t allow for them to compete for the win, but they maintain the Championship lead due their diligence and effort with a wounded car. Freiberg and Blackstock had a great race but were forced to serve a lengthy penalty which ultimately took them out of contention as well. Despite the difficulties, the 48 car finished 9th and the 46 made it to the checkered flag in P16.

The #48 started the 2.5-hour race in P14 and Freiberg drove the first stint moving all the way up to P4. She was running lap times that were the fastest on track at the time, staying competitive and keeping with the lead pack. She was involved in an incident with Andrew Davis which IMSA deemed avoidable and she was given a penalty. Although the team had some lengthy discussion with IMSA the penalty stood and Blackstock had to serve it . The earlier incident penalty was served as a drive through plus 50 seconds which put the #48 a lap down. Blackstock put his head down and drove an amazing race, climbing his way back up into the top-10.

#48 Rytec High Performance Doors/ Starstruck/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes: Finished P9, Fastest Lap 1:22:497.

Shelby Blackstock: “Overall, I am really proud of the whole Fall-Line team. Unfortunately we got a penalty at the beginning stage of the race but the team did a fantastic job setting the car up and it was a phenomenal car. If we didn’t have the penalty we would have been right up there. I don’t know if we could have caught the Aston Martin but I definitely think we could have had a podium which would have been awesome for the #48 car. I am really proud of the team to overcome this and get a top-10 finish and I can’t wait until the next race.”

Ashley Freiberg: “The car was awesome so it was a lot of fun driving around people at the start. Andrew (Davis) and I had a battle going on and he caught a ST car that slowed up more than he expected which then caused Andrew to slow up and I just had nowhere to go. I was fully locked up on the brakes hard and got into the back of him. I feel that I did everything I could to avoid hitting him and I don’t know what else I could have done better. It really was unfortunate that they penalized us as much as they did, but what can you do. Onwards and upwards.”

The #46 car started in P4 with Edwards behind the wheel and it became evident immediately that there was a problem. Edwards reported that the car was down on power and he was losing position. Engineers tried to diagnose the issue with feedback from the cockpit and engine data, but were unsuccessful in repairing it. The crew made several attempts to repair what they could in pit lane without going behind the wall and the decision was made to keep the car on track and attempt to finish despite running on seven cylinders. Hindman got in for his stint and was extremely optimistic and positive about the decision to finish the race in what was a severely wounded machine. The engine was using more fuel than normal and Hindman had to come in twice at the end for a splash of fuel in what ended up being a fuel mileage race. The duo maintains the Championship lead by a narrow five points now but are confident with their chances and the races ahead.

#46 Trim-Tex/ Cirocco & Ozzimo/ Atlas Acon/ DFL Interiors/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes:

John Edwards: “Immediately I knew we had an issue. The green fell and I went backwards. It was tough to just maintain and lose as few positions as possible, and it was frustrating to be so helpless out there just driving around. The team did a great job and I know did everything they could to try and figure out if there was anything we could do and at the end of the day I think we made the best of an unfortunate situation. Trent did great out there. After my stint I went to the tower to spot for him and he looked really, really good. I’m glad we stayed out and got as many points as we were able and the fact that we still retain the Championship lead is a testament to this team as to our hard work and determination. Everyone will have an off-weekend over the course of the year and I’m still confident with our chances.”

Trent Hindman: “Obviously today was a pretty tough day. We weren’t making one hundred percent power and I thought our day was going to end pretty early because John radioed in and said something was seriously wrong. Usually when the car is running on seven cylinders that’s not a good sign. At the end of the day we were able to run the full two-and-a-half hours. I’m really proud of the job everyone did because it could have been much worse and taken us out of the points lead. We still secured points and are still right there and made the most of a bad situation. That’s racing, we’re not going to win all of them but we sure are going to try. A huge thanks for everyone at Fall-Line, they really worked their asses off to keep us going and I appreciate them so much. Also a huge thanks to Joe Koenig at Trim-Tex, my other sponsors Cirocco & Ozzimo, Atlas Acon, DFL Interiors, and the National Kidney Foundation for sticking with us year.”

Michael Harvey, Fall-Line Motorsports Team Manager:
“Championships are won by minimizing the damage on your bad days and although this was a bad day for the Fall-Line BMW’s it could have been much worse. As always I am so proud of the Fall-Line crew and their talent and desire to never give up. We again had really fast cars so it is extremely frustrating to come away with a small points haul but adversity makes us stronger as a team. I would like to thank Rytec High Performance doors for coming on board for this event. We now head to Watkins Glen to defend our victory from last year, typically the Fall-line Motorsports BMWs are fast at the Glen and we will be very focused on executing cleanly and bringing BMW another victory. ”

Next up is Watkins Glen on June 26-28.

FALL-LINE MOTORSPORTS SCORES 2 TOP-10 FINISHES AT LIME ROCK PARK

Lakeville, CT (May 26, 2014) – This was the first time that Fall-Line Motorsports failed to finish on the podium in the 2014 Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge series as they raced at Lime Rock Park this past weekend. However, both BMW M3s competing in the GS category finished in the top-10 securing valuable points and extending their Championship lead with John Edwards and Trent Hindman, who finished 4th in yesterday’s race. Mike LaMarra and Terry Borcheller joined the team for the Lime Rock race, pulling double-duty as the raced in both the GS and ST races. They finished 9th in a successful result for the long-time racing pair.

Ashley Freiberg was on-hand to help out the team this weekend as she continues the hunt for sponsorship. She worked the signboard in the pits throughout the race and showed the team player that she is. Everyone is working extremely hard to make sure she is back behind the wheel of her Fall-Line BMW really soon.

The #46 car started on pole for the third consecutive race of 2014. Hindman captured the pole position in rounds 2 and 3 and Edwards inherited the pole at Lime Rock when qualifying was rained out. The grid was determined by points thus putting the #46 at the front once again. Edwards drove the opening stint of the 2.5-hour race and led every lap before pitting and passing off driving duties to Hindman. There was only one caution period in the entire race and this is when the #46 came to the pits from the lead. Unfortunately a miscommunication meant that the #46 pitted along with the 2nd placed car on the 2nd lap of this caution and this cost them track position. When everything shook out, Hindman joined the field in 7th when the race went green with just under one hour remaining. After a very strong drive and some great overtaking, Hindman made his way up to 4th place scoring the third fastest lap of the race. Hindman and Edwards maintain the Championship lead heading into Kansas Speedway.

#46 Trim-Tex/ Cirocco & Ozzimo/ Atlas Acon/ DFL Interiors/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes:

John Edwards: “Well, it was a good day for points since we finished ahead of the cars that are close to us, but I felt disappointed to not come away with our second win of the season. Our car was fast and Trent had a 17 second lead when the caution came out, but unfortunately we missed the call from IMSA that the pits were opening. Given that we were leading, there was no one ahead of us to follow into pit lane so we had to pit on the second lap that the pits were open, which cost us a lot of track position and ultimately our chance at winning. Trent drove a great stint to recover to P4 and keep our championship lead, and we’ll be ready to get back on the podium at Kansas.”

Trent Hindman: “Overall I’m very pleased with how our race went. John had a great opening stint and it definitely showed that we had a shot at getting a good result. The Fall-Line guys gave us an awesome car, and it was especially good at the end when we were trying to hunt down the leaders. Definitely a little disappointed at just missing out on the podium, but in the end it was a great points day for us and we’re still carrying a lot of momentum going into Kansas. A huge thank you once again to our partners Trim-Tex, Cirocco & Ozzimo, Atlas Acon, DFL Interiors, and the National Kidney Foundation. Really excited to get back at it!”

Borcheller and LaMarra pulled double-duty as they competed in their usual BMW in the ST category and also in the GS category since the two classes had their own race at the compact Lime Rock Park circuit. LaMarra had to start at the back of the pack since they didn’t carry any points into this weekend that determined the starting grid. LaMarra started in P25 but moved his way up to P17 completing a very strong first stint in his very first GS event before Borcheller got in the car. Borcheller climbed up to P9 when the checkered-flag fell, scoring a solid finish for the pair’s first foray in the GS category together.

Mike LaMarra: “We were happy to get a top 10 finish for the #48. The Fall-Line team gave us a really good car. We worked hard to overcome our starting position, but needed a few more positions early. In the end, we were happy with the result and had a lot of fun driving with Fall-Line team and in the GS field. We are thankful to the team for the opportunity.”

Terry Borcheller: “Lime Rock is a tough place. Starting toward the back of the grid because of the qualifying being rained out made it even tougher. Mike, myself, and all involved at Fall-Line gave it everything we had. One of the objectives for Mike was to get some experience in a GS car, and he stepped up as he always does. It was a great experience to run with them again, and we wish them well with their pursuit of a GS Championship.”

Michael Harvey, Fall-Line Motorsports Team Manager: “I am so proud of the Fall-Line Motorsports team, as again they put two very fast and consistent BMWs on the track at Lime Rock Park this past weekend. We leave a little bittersweet as a slight error in communication under yellow forced Trent to work a little harder than planned and although a better result could possibly have been achieved it is great to head to Kansas having extended our points lead.”

Next up is the Grand Prix of Kansas on June 6-7.

FALL-LINE MOTORSPORTS SCORES SECOND VICTORY IN 2014 DURING RACE 3 AT MAZDA RACEWAY LAGUNA SECA

Monterey, Calif. (May 4, 2014) – Trent Hindman started on pole for yesterday’s Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix Powered by Mazda in his BMW M3 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. After he and co-driver John Edwards finished runner-up in the first and second rounds of the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge (CTSC) season, they brought home the “W” in dominant fashion to capture Hindman’s first victory in CTSC and Edwards’ sixth. Teammates Ashley Freiberg and Shelby Blackstock also had a strong showing and finished in the top-10 scoring a 7th place finish.

Hindman scored his third career pole position in qualifications and the 18-year old from New Jersey looked like a veteran in the opening stint of the race. He lost the lead in the early stages but was patient and waited for an opportunity to overtake Eric Curran in the #01 Camaro on lap 27 and bring in the #46 car for a driver change from the lead. Edwards got in and held off the #01 Camaro for three restarts and drove an impressive race to finally capture the pairs’ first victory together. They extend their points lead heading into Round 4 at Lime Rock.

John Edwards: “Well this was hard, all those re-starts made it hard. We made a big effort in practice to make the car good over a long stint. We knew that’s where we had the advantage over the Camaros in the race. But all those cautions kept giving them the advantage back because during all those cautions our tires would cool down no matter what you do during the caution. It was tough for us to weather all those re-starts but we made it happen and I couldn’t be more thrilled.”

Trent Hindman: “I am thrilled to see that all of the hard work everyone has put in has truly paid off. Getting 2nd two races in a row is definitely nothing to be disappointed in but John (Edwards), myself, and the whole team really wanted to get a win, and we did it. The Fall-Line guys were flawless all weekend. We rolled off the trailer with a great car but we kept working to make it better and better throughout the weekend. John (Edwards) had a hell of a drive during his stint and was able to remain calm, as the Camaro, Nissan, and Aston Martin stayed right in his mirrors the whole time. A huge thank you to our partners Trim Tex Drywall, Cirocco & Ozzimo, Atlas Acon, and DFL Interiors for all of the hard work and support towards the 46 team!”

The #48 driven by Ashley Freiberg started 8th today and the talented 22-year-old from Homer Glen, Illinois drove a phenomenal first stint. The race was plagued by numerous cautions but the few green flag laps that were available Ashley made the most of. She pit on lap 34 from P3 and co-driver Shelby Blackstock got in. He also took advantage of the multiple re-starts but ultimately the hard driving used up the tires and the handling of the #48 suffered. He crossed the finish in P7, which is a solid points day for the duo.

#48 Starstruck/ TRUECar/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW drivers: P7 Best time: 1:36:877

Shelby Blackstock: “Today was a very close and tough race. All the cars were super competitive and some of the lighter cars had very good tire wear. In the end, it was a good performance by the team even though we ended up 7th. I can’t thank the Fall-Line team enough for all they have done for the #48 BMW M3.”

Ashley Freiberg: “I was still pleased with where we ended up qualifying in 8th. Luckily in the race I was able to stay out of trouble and made a few adjustments to my driving to get us up to third. Shelby (Blackstock) did a great job also as I know the tires seemed to fall out from underneath him toward the end of his stint, which is tough to handle at a track like Laguna. Glad we were able to bring us to 4th in the points!”

Michael Harvey, Fall-Line Motorsports Team Manager: “Another very strong team result for Fall-line Motorsports and BMW. I am so proud of everybody on this team for all the continued hard work and dedication. We have been consistently fast in 2014, as both drivers and engineers have worked tirelessly to develop our BMWs. After three very different tracks we now approach the hectic portion of the season staring in 3 weeks at the BMW supported event at Lime Rock Park. All four of our drivers deserve these results as they work tirelessly on improving themselves, their cars and the team, I cannot be more impressed by the dedication and drive they show week in and week out.”

Next up is Round 4 at Lime Rock Park on May 23-24. Tune in on May 11 on FOX Sports 1 to see a re-broadcast of the race at 10a ET.

FALL-LINE MOTORSPORTS FINISHES SECOND AT SEBRING IN CTSCC

Sebring, FL (March 15, 2014) – Fall-Line Motorsports looked to have the race win in the bag earlier today at Sebring International Raceway for the second race on the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge (CTSCC) series schedule. Trent Hindman and John Edwards started from pole for the 2.5-hour race and had a substantial lead on the pack for a good part of the race. They ended up finishing P2 when the race ended under caution. Teammates Ken Wilden and D.J. Randall finished the day in a solid P6 and series leaders heading into the Sebring event, Shelby Blackstock and Ashley Freiberg suffered a mechanical failure and ended up P20.

Hindman started off the first part of the race driving away from his competitors and built up a nice gap before pitting and handing over the reigns to Edwards. With a perfect pit stop and an unbelievably out lap Edwards managed to build a 13-second lead with just under an hour remaining when the track went yellow. The restart with just 30 minutes to go turned out to be the pivotal moment and Edwards got shuffled back to P2 when the field bunched up heading into turn one and Edwards lost the lead. He never got the chance to make a move for the lead as the race ended under caution due to a nasty wreck in the ST field, which heavily damaged the barrier at turn seven. This is the second race in 2014 and this finish makes 2 for 2 second place finishes. Although it may not be the top step on the podium, the #46 drivers take the Championship lead with today’s finish.

#46 Trim-Tex/ Cirocco Ozzimo/ Atlas Acon/ DFL Interiors/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW drivers: P2 Best time: 2:17:137

John Edwards: “I hate to be upset about second, but it’s still hugely disappointing not to win on such a strong day. I didn’t have a great run on the restart,. I had to lift to avoid passing the safety car before he got to pit road. That gave Robin a great run, and then the #12 hit the brakes earlier than I expected for turn one and I had nowhere to go with Robin (Liddell) on my right. Luckily we came away with second and got the points lead.”

Trent HIndman: “It’s definitely disappointing finishing P2 after leading much of the race, but John (Edwards) did a heck of a job bringing it home. Coming out of Sebring with the points lead is definitely worth all of the hard work. Again, awesome job by everyone at Fall-Line Motorsports for giving us a great car all weekend. I also have to thank our partners at Trim-tex Drywall, Cirocco & Ozzimo, Atlas Acon, and DFL Interiors for all of their support.”

The #47 car was driven this weekend by veteran Ken Wilden and his co-driver of D.J. Randall. The duo started the race in 15th but made fantastic progress and finished in 6th.

#47 Fall-Line Motorsports BMW drivers: P6 Best time: 2:17:663

Ken Wilden: “We had a great drive in the Fall-Line BMW and D.J. (Randall) ran an awesome first stint. We made a quick change on the pit stop to help handling and it worked great. I just wish we would have had the last 20 minutes under green to see what we could have done.”

The #48 started in 6th place today driven by Ashley Freiberg who, along with co-driver Shelby Blackstock, were the defending race winners from the season-opener at Daytona. They were also, naturally, the point’s leaders heading into this weekend’s event and had a very strong chance at a podium finish at the very least. Their hopes were squashed as the extremely rough track that is infamous at Sebring caused an upright to fail due to the enormous amount of stress the constant bumps over the 3.74-mile course. Blackstock made a remarkable save when the failure occurred at a high-speed corner and managed to bring the car in for repairs. Replacing the damaged suspension was a length process but the talented Fall-Line crew made quick work of it and got him back out on track to salvage as many points as possible.

#48 Starstruck/ TRUECar/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW drivers: P20 Best time: 2:17:316

Shelby Blackstock: “Today definitely didn’t go as planned. Ashley (Freiberg) said something felt weird with the car on how it was handling in the beginning. When I got in, the rear was unpredictable and very loose. Coming through turn 16 the left rear broke and nearly sent me into the wall. I luckily kept it on the track and came in for repairs. It was not how the #48 team wanted their day to go but hopefully we can have better luck in Laguna!!”

Ashley Freiberg: “What a bummer to have an issue like that take us from 4th to 20th, but hey, what can you do? I definitely felt that there was something going wrong from the start of my stint, but at that point there is not much you can do except drive through it. Unfortunate to have happened during Shelby’s stint, but what an epic save he had when it broke! Big congrats to my teammates Trent and John for a great drive today. Let’s go get ’em at Laguna!”

Michael Harvey, Fall-Line Motorsports Team Manager: “Another very solid day for the Fall-Line BMWs, although frustrating for the 48 car. This result is a true testament to everyone at Fall-Line and their dedication and commitment to this program. It is very satisfying to retain the points lead heading to Mazda Raceway and I am extremely proud of everyone at Fall-Line. I am so proud of our drivers, with a mix of youth and experience this team really works well together and they inspire each other to become better at what they do.”

FALL-LINE MOTORSPORT CLAIMS FIRST VICTORY OF 2014 AS BLACKSTOCK AND FREIBERG LEAD A FALL-LINE 1 – 2 AS BOTH DRIVERS CAPTURE THEIR FIRST CTSCC GS WINS

FALL-LINE MOTORSPORT CLAIMS FIRST VICTORY OF 2014 AS BLACKSTOCK AND FREIBERG LEAD A FALL-LINE 1 – 2 AS BOTH DRIVERS CAPTURE THEIR FIRST CTSCC GS WINS

Daytona Beach, FL (January 25, 2014) – It was a fantastic day at Daytona International Speedway for the Fall-Line Motorsports IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge (CTSCC) team at the 2014 season-opener. BMW Perfromance 200. The three BMW M3s had been quick in the practice sessions earlier this week but didn’t get the chance to show their capability in qualifying. However, the race gave the six drivers the opportunity to shine on the 3.56 mile track and after some shuffling of the final grid, the #48 took home the FIRST win for Shelby Blackstock and Ashley Freiberg. The #46 of John Edwards and Trent Hindman finished second and although the #47 of Steve Bertheau and Spencer Pumpelly crossed the line in second but were given a penalty and were classified 19th.

This was Blackstock’s first CTSCC victory in his third season in the series and it comes at a track where he captured the pole position in his first year. Blackstock’s previous best result came at Kansas last year with a third-place finish. His impressive drive yesterday showed tremendous skill and poise for a young driver who has much less experience behind the wheel than his competitors. Ashley Freiberg drove the opening stint and turned heads as she made her way from P12 to P5 before handing the wheel of the #48 over to Blackstock. This was Freiberg’s first race with Fall-Line and her first race in the CTSCC series and with this victory she becomes the first female overall winner at Daytona International Speedway, a remarkable achievement.

#48 Starstruck/ TRUECar/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW drivers: P1 Best time: 1:55:796

Shelby Blackstock: “Today was a great race! The team did a great job in the pits and it got us through the field to the second spot. Luckily the winning car did not pass tech so we won the race!!! One-two for the Fall-Line team! Very impressive!”

Ashley Freiberg: “I am so proud of Shelby (Blackstock) and all the guys at Fall-Line Motorsports for working so hard this week. What a great start to the season for Fall-Line and BMW to be able to win in the first race of the season at Daytona. I am so thankful right now for everyone who has worked so hard to put me in the car for this event, and truly can’t even fathom that we won today. To also be the first woman in history to win overall at Daytona is the cherry on top. Thank you Fall-Line Motorsports, TRUECar, Bell Helmets, and all of my supporters for believing in me and making this happen. This is only the beginning.”

Not to be overlooked today was the pair of John Edwards and Trent Hindman who drove the
highest starting Fall-Line car from 3rd position. Hindman started the race and turned the car over to Edwards from the lead. Edwards drove an inspiring race and turned the fastest lap overall. In the closing laps he made a move on the #96 heading into turn one that didn’t stick and cost him two positions, letting teammate Blackstock by. This move ultimately cost him the win. Only drivers as competitive and driven as this duo would be disappointed with finishing second.

#46 Trim-Tex/ Cirocco Ozzimo/ Atlas Acon/ DFL Interiors/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW drivers: P2 Best time: 1:55:047

John Edwards: “Well, it was a great day for BMW and for the entire Fall-Line team finishing 1-2. It was bittersweet for me since I basically threw it away trying to pass the #96 but I went for it and I stick by that decision. I would try that move again in the next race if I had the chance. It was still a great day for us, a solid way to start out the year points-wise and a great day for the whole team.”

Trent Hindman: “We had an amazing race, I had a great time out there! John (Edwards) did a fantastic job bringing the car home and the 1-2 for Fall-Line today is fantastic! Big thanks to our partners TrimTex, Criocco & Ozzimo, Atlas Acon, and DFL Interiors. Great start to 2014!”

The #47 car had the farthest to go to get to the front, but driver’s Steven Bertheau and Spencer Pumpelly made it happen. Bertheau made up valuable track position before Pumpelly got in the car. Pumpelly crossed the finish line in third place but IMSA deemed a pit lane violation that sent him back in the field.
#47 Sargent & Lundy/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW drivers: P19 Best time: 1:55:609

Steve Bertheau: “We had an amazing race. It is too bad that we had so many yellow flags near the end. All three Fall Line teams were on top. A shoot out between the three of us would have been a real thriller!”

Spencer Pumpelly: “The team did a fantastic job. Steve (Bertheau) and I had a strong car that was able to come through the field and challenge for a podium. I’m not sure exactly what our penalty was for but it’s a disappointing way to end the race. If the series wasn’t happy with the order on the restart I would have been happy to reposition myself before going green. It’s too bad because Steve Bertheau drove a great first stint to set us up for a podium finish.”

Michael Harvey, Fall-Line Motorsports Team Manager:
“Great day for the Fall-Line BMWs and after a very interesting race it is fantastic to have Shelby (Blackstock) and Ashley (Freiberg) celebrate their first win. The whole crew did a truly amazing job this week and to start the new season with a 1-2 finish at Daytona is incredible and a true testament to the dedication my guys have to our program. This was a true team effort with all three cars finishing on track in the top three positions with Spencer (Pumpelly) and Steve (Bertheau) in 2nd and Trent (Hindman) and John (Edwards) in 3rd. Unfortunately we incurred a penalty for the 47 car which moved them back a little, but still a great day for the Fall-Line BMWs at the BMW Performance 200.”

As previously announced, John Edwards and Trent Hindman will share driving duties of the #46 car. Shelby Blackstock and Ashley Freiberg will drive the #48, and Spencer Pumpelly and Steven Bertheau will pilot the third entry in the #47 car.

Edwards is new to the team this year but not new to CTSC. In his three years competing in the series he has earned five victories and numerous podium finishes. This factory BMW driver brings enormous talent and enthusiasm and is a welcome addition to the team. Edwards joins series sophomore Trent Hindman who drove for Fall-Line the last five races of 2013 and became the youngest driver to sit on the pole in CTSC history at the season-finale at Lime Rock Park.

Sponsors Cirocco Ozzimo, Trim-Tex Drywall Products, Atlas Acon, and DFL Interiors will return for 2014 on the #46 BMW M3 driven by Edwards and Hindman. Over the next few weeks we will share more about these great partners in our Partner Highlight section.

#46 Trim-Tex/ Cirocco Ozzimo/ Atlas Acon/ DFL Interiors/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes:

John Edwards: “I’m looking forward to my first race with Fall-Line. I think the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship has one of the shortest off seasons of any race series in the world, but I’m already itching to get back to racing. I’ve had two tests with Fall-Line and that has given me great confidence for the year ahead. They’ve won races and even the championship before, and I think we have a real shot at winning the GS championship again this year. I’m also looking forward to driving with Trent (Hindman). I’ve known him since he started racing in Skip Barber, and he’s come a long way and has proven his speed. I think we can definitely be a threat all year.”

Trent HIndman: “I’m extremely excited to get the 2014 season underway. There has been a lot of hard work and preparation during the offseason to come out and be contenders right from the beginning. We definitely showed well at the Roar, but you really don’t know what is going to happen until it is crunch time. Driving with John (Edwards) has been absolutely awesome so far and hopefully we can be in the fight up at the front! Just a quick thank you to Michael Harvey, Mark Boden, and everyone at Fall-Line for this great opportunity. Also, huge thanks to our partners Cirocco & Ozzimo, Atlas Acon, DFL Interiors, and Trim-Tex for coming together and making this season happen. Now hopefully we can pull together a good result for these guys!”

Driving the #47 car for a one-off at Daytona are series veterans Spencer Pumpelly and Steven Bertheau. This pair has driven together for several years and is re-uniting for this inaugural race under the unified sports car series umbrella. Pumpelly and Bertheau have had great success driving together and have finished on the podium three times including one victory at Daytona.

#47 Sargent & Lundy/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes:

Spencer Pumpelly: “I’m really looking forward to running with Steve and Fall Line. Steve and I have had great success in the past winning in both Rolex and GS. Fall-Line has thus far really impressed me with their professionalism and organization. This should be a great start to the season.”

Steve Bertheau: “It is great to be driving with Spence (Pumpelly) again in a GS car again since we have had such great success together in GS races in the past. I am really looking forward to the weekend and joining Fall-Line for this exciting event.”

Joining Fall-Line for the 2014 season is Shelby Blackstock who has been a fixture in the CTSC paddock for three years. Blackstock has been competing in the series with a different team driving a Ford Mustang but has acclimated to the BMW very quickly and has settled into his new team. Ashley Freiberg will be in the car with Blackstock for Daytona and this will be her first race in the CTSC series. Freiberg competed in the North American GT3 Cup series in 2013 where she became the first female to win a race overall.

#48 Starstruck Entertainment/ TrueCar/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes:

Shelby Blackstock: “I am very excited for the race at Daytona! The Fall-Line BMW is very fast and I’ve matched really well with the car. There is going to be a lot of good competition as there always is, so it should be a good race. Thanks to Fall-Line for giving me this opportunity and a great car!”

Ashley Freiberg: “I am so thankful that Fall-Line Motorsports has given me such a fantastic opportunity to race for them at Daytona. They have worked tremendously hard to make this happen and I hope I can return the favor by giving them a strong performance! This will be my first endurance race of any kind, but I have been doing my homework by watching in-car videos, looking at data, watching previous race footage and staying in shape so that I can show up as well-prepared as I can for my debut in CTSCC. I am so excited!”

Michael Harvey, Fall-Line Motorsports Team Manager:
“I am really excited to kick off 2014 at Daytona. We had a great test here early this month and I feel we really have a very strong driver lineup in all three cars. Our guys have worked really hard over the winter months and I believe we are well prepared for the race. The Fall-Line BMWs have always been strong at Daytona and with the mix of youth and experience behind the wheel we feel optimistic heading into the inaugural IMSA Continental Tire Series Championship.”

Fall-Line Motorsports re-signs Hindman for CTSCC in 2014

Buffalo Grove, IL – Fall-Line Motorsports continues to build their Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge team and has signed another talented driver for the 2014 season.
Young standout, Trent Hindman, will be returning to Fall-Line and will compete in his first full-season of GS competition in one of the team’s BMW M3s.

Hindman, who turned 18 this past fall, hails from New Jersey and competed in five CTSCC races in 2013. At his first-ever professional sports car race in his career, which took place at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Hindman qualified third and finished 4th. He scored 2 top-ten finishes, 2 top-fives, 1 podium and 1 pole position, for an average finish of 5.2 in 2013.

Hindman came up through the open-wheel ranks, starting in karting as a youngster then transitioning to cars via the Skip Barber Series’, Formula Ford 1600 in Canada, and the USF2000 Series in 2012. He made the shift to sportscars just this year and competed in SCCA with Fall-Line in addition to his professional program.
HIndman’s co-driver and sponsors will be announced ahead of the first official event of 2014, the Roar Before the ROLEX 24 at Daytona International Speedway in early January.

Trent Hindman: “I have to say that I am incredibly excited to be back with Fall-Line! Being able to return for the 2014 season and having the chance to work with a great team and some of the best drivers in the U.S. is truly a privilege. I am very happy to be continuing my relationship with Fall-Line and I’m especially looking forward to having another great season with these guys! Just a huge thank you goes out to Michael Harvey, Mark Boden, my parents, and my partners for making this all possible and for giving me a fantastic opportunity. I am really looking forward to getting this show on the road in Daytona!”

Michael Harvey, Fall-Line Motorsports Team Manager: “We are very excited to welcome Trent back for 2014. He is without doubt a unique talent and to have the opportunity to continue the development path we started last year is very special. Trent just adds to the strength in driving talent we have for 2014 as we look to take the Fall-Line BMWs to victory.”
