Hindman’s Season Heats Up!

Three Races in Five Weeks for Young American BMW Motorsport Junior Driver
Watkins Glen, NY. June 24, 2015 — After an eight-week break in the 2015 Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge series Trent Hindman is more than ready to restart the season at Watkins Glen International, in Watkins Glen, NY,  on June 27th and then race in two additional races – at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada and Lime Rock Park, in Lakeville, Conn. – over the next four weeks. He will also make a trip to the IZone simulator, in Silverstone, England, as part of the BMW Motorsport Junior program in between Watkins Glen and CTMP to prepare for upcoming races in Europe.
The 19-year old, from Wayside, NJ, currently stands fifth in the CTSCC Grand Sport class driver points standings after three rounds in the No. 46 Fall-Line Motorsports BMW M3 he co-drives with Ashley Freiberg. The duo shares a seasons-best finish of fourth at the BMW Performance 200 at Daytona International Speedway in January. Hindman won the 2014 CTSCC GS driver title, becoming the youngest ever to do so, as co-driver with BMWNA driver John Edwards. This season Hindman has assumed the role of lead driver of the No. 46 M3 as he continues to mature as a sports car endurance driver.

“I’ve been training hard during this break as the next five weeks will be extremely busy ones,” said Hindman. “Watkins Glen is a challenging circuit and with the recent balance of performance given to the BMW M3 by IMSA (a 50 pound weight reduction and 2 mm increase in air restrictor diameter) I think we will regain much of the speed the M3 has shown at the Glen in recent years. The Glen is one of my favorite tracks and we are going to have a great car, so I’m focused on doing the best job possible for Fall-Line, Trim-Tex, IHG Rewards Club, and Top 1 Oil.”
Immediately following the Glen weekend, Trent will fly to Silverstone, England, to spend time in the IZone simulator as part of his BMW Motorsport Junior program training. The simulator is one of the tools Hindman will use to prepare himself for Circuit Zolder, in Holland, where he is scheduled to participate in a 24 hour race at the end of August as well as a 12 hour race scheduled in October at Brno, in the Czech Republic.
Hindman continued, “I am excited to be competing in two long distance endurance events with my fellow Juniors. Having the opportunity to drive in both 12 and 24 hour races this year will really add to the already massive amount I am learning from being a part of the BMW Motorsport Junior Program. Zolder and Brno are two great European circuits that I’m really looking forward to racing on, and thankfully we are going to get some time in on an IZone simulator to get some preparation.”
This weekend’s CTSCC race will be streamed live on imsa.com beginning at 12:25 p.m. ET Saturday, June 27th and be broadcast on FOX Sports 1 on July 5 at 10:00 am ET.

FALL-LINE MOTORSPORTS HAS MIXED RESULTS IN DAYTONA

Daytona Beach, FL (January 29, 2015)- Fall-Line Motorsports finished just one position off the podium last weekend at Daytona International Raceway as Trent Hindman and Ashley Freiberg took the checkered flag in fourth place in GS for the BMW Performance 200. Teammates Corey Lewis and Al Carter were unable to start the race after a crash in the morning warm-up that left their racecar with significant damage that couldn’t repaired in time for the race.

The defending Continental Tire SportsCar (CTSC) Champion (Hindman) and defending Daytona race winner (Freiberg) had a solid run in the race after they started in 6th position. Freiberg started the race and drove all the way up to second before pitting for a driver change. Hindman turned the third fastest lap in the closing laps in the 2.5-hour race.

Trent Hindman: “I thought it was a solid run, I’m a little bit angry at myself because I knew we could have caught Lawson (Aschenbach) at the end. It was still a great fight. I knew we had the car in the infield to catch him but those things (Camaros) are just monsters coming off the corners. That definitely made it difficult to pass. At the end of the day, everyone did an incredible job. For us to get the lone BMW in the field up into the top-five, I think that’s a great accomplishment. A huge thanks to Mark Boden, Michael Harvey, and everyone at Fall-Line for giving us a great racecar and flawless pit stops all day. Thank you to Trim-Tex and IHG Rewards Club for making this possible today.”

Ashley Freiberg: “I am pretty proud of our race. We are looking at this with a long term view which is to win the Championship, so fourth place is good for points. The team did a great job with pit stops, and Trent drove well. The car was handling really well, we just don’t have the straight line speed due to all of last season’s BOP adjustments, which is kind of frustrating, but I think we gave it everything we could. I have to give huge thank you to IHG Rewards Club, BMW of North America, Trim-Tex, and Fall-Line Motorsports for their support and for a solid start to the 2015 season. I am looking forward to what Sebring will bring us!”

Al Carter: “It was great to be united with the whole Fall-Line crew at Daytona. Our #48 BMW was stout rolling off the truck. We qualified strong and though the racing gods didn’t allow us to get the debut we had hoped for, make no doubt that Corey Lewis is an amazing young racing talent and this #48 team will shine at Sebring. A huge shout out to teammates Trent and Ashley for all their help and support and congrats for their strong race finish.”

Corey Lewis: “Daytona did not turn out as we had planned. The Fall-Line Motorsports crew did an amazing job preparing the car, and my co-driver Al Carter qualified us at P10. Unfortunately, I made an error in morning warm up causing damage to the car that could not be repaired in time for the race. My focus in now on Sebring, and getting the result I know we are capable of. A huge thank you to Amped Apparel, Monticello Motor Club, and the Nila Agency.”

Michael Harvey, Team Manager: “It was a bittersweet day for the Fall-Line Motorsports BMWs. Unfortunately, the #48 incurred damage that precluded it from racing but the #46 had a strong race to finish 4th. The result was a great way to start the year especially as the strategy, pitstops, and performance from all was flawless; 4th was better than we could have hoped for today. A big thank you goes out to IHG Rewards Club and longtime partner Trim-Tex. We are excited to move onto Sebring and continue our pursuit of a Championship for Fall-Line, BMW and all of our partners.”

Next up is Sebring International Raceway on March 20.

FALL-LINE MOTORSPORTS MAKES THE BEST OUT OF DIFFICULT SITUATION AT VIR IN CTSC

Danville, Virginia (August 25, 2014) – Fall-Line Motorsports left Virginia International Raceway in second place in GS standings, just two points out of the lead with driver Trent Hindman. The #46 car has led the Championship since race two of the 2014 Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge Series but with just two races remaining, the Fall-Line team is pulling out all the stops. The #46 car had a charging issue during the race that made for two extra pit stops and put the BMW M3 a lap down in P12 to finish out the race. Ashley Freiberg was back in the #48 and drove a great race alongside co-driver Andrew Longe. The pair finished P13 after a late race pit stop took them out of a strong top-10 finishing position.

Hindman started from P6 and very eary in his stint the team realized there was a problem. The issue was obviously electrical and Hindman had to make an un-scheduled pit stop to replace the battery. Conditions were extremely grueling, with the internal temperature of the cars reaching over 135 degrees. The drivers weren’t able to use their helmet blowers and had to turn off all un-necessary devices that would draw electricity. The battery had to be replaced three times, calling for two additional pit stops, and still the team only lost one lap and kept the #46 car running until the end of the race. They finished in twelfth place but in this race to the end for the Championship, every point is crucial.

#46 Trim-Tex/ Cirocco & Ozzimo/ Atlas Acon/ DFL Interiors/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes: Finished P12.

John Edwards: “It was a disappointing day for us. We had a pretty decent pace but were fighting an electrical problem that required us to change batteries during every pit stop. Ultimately one of our stops took a long time when the team tried to repair the problem and it cost us a lap. The Championship is tight now going into the last two races so it should be exciting but it’s a little more excitement than we needed after having such a big lead earlier in the season.”

Trent Hindman: “Well, overall it was a character building race, we definitely had a car that was capable of finishing on the podium but unfortunately we just got caught out by some electrical gremlins. This #46 Fall-Line team has done an incredible job overcoming the bad luck that we’re having this summer and that’s really what’s keeping us in this championship hunt! A big thank you to our partners Trim-Tex, Cirocco & Ozzimo, Atlas Acon, and DFL Interiors for sticking with us and helping us keep this program going. We’re trailing the 6 car by a little bit in points now, but there’s two races to go and plenty of time to make it happen.”

Andrew Longe competed in his third race of the season in the #48 BMW M3 and had a strong race despite the 13th place result. Longe started the race from P17 but had a solid first stint and kept the car clean and improved each and every session he was in the car. It was Ashley’s first race back behind the wheel since Kansas and her first trip to VIR in many years. She also assumed the finishing role for this event as Fall-Line continues to gain as much experience for Ashley while focusing on trying to put together a full program for her in 2015. She got behind the wheel after executing a perfect driver change and excellent pit stops and was looking to finish strongly in the top-ten before having to pit with just two laps remaining in the race for a splash of fuel.

#48 Starstruck/ Trianon Hotels Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes: Finished P13.

Ashley Freiberg: “It felt absolutely amazing to be back in the #48 Fall-Line Motorsports BMW! I was really proud of the job Andrew did, and the crew gave us a great car to bring us up to 10th before we had to pit for a splash of fuel at the end. It was definitely one of the toughest races I ever had to drive in my whole career though, both mentally and physically. For the one hour forty-five minute stint in a 140 degree racecar, I had no helmet air blower and ran out of water quickly due to me trying to keep my body temp down. I definitely am stronger after that one, and I hope I can carry over the lessons I learned to finish out the season.”

Andrew Longe: “It was a great weekend at Virginia International Raceway in our Fall-Line Motorsports/ Trianon Hotels BMW M3! It was a great opportunity to work with Ashley this weekend and I believe we both benefitted from building off of each other’s strengths and we will be able to use the skills we learned to put towards the remainder of the season. A huge thank you to all of the Fall-Line Motorsports team for the perfect car, amazing pit stops and everything they do to ensure we have the best car on grid, we couldn’t do it without them.”

Michael Harvey, Fall-Line Motorsports Team Manager: “I am very proud of the Fall-Line Motorsports team, we experienced some challenges today and the team rose to the occasion to minimize the damage. These are the events that win championships and with the “never give up” attitude these guys have extracted the most from the race. Such a pity as the car was very strong. It was great to have Ashley back behind the wheel and she and Andrew did an excellent job, with great pace. As always the Fall-Line BMWs were strong throughout the weekend as we now look to put together two perfect events to bring Fall-Line, BMW and all our great partners the big prize. ”

Fall-Line Motorsports Victorious in Texas

Austin, Texas (September 20, 2014) – Fall-Line Motorsports competed in the Lone Star Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge series yesterday and captured their third win of the year in the GS category. Trent Hindman and John Edwards started ninth but with Mother Nature on their side, finished on the top step of the podium. Shelby Blackstock and Andrew Longe drove a fantastic race as well, moving up ten spots to finish P11.

It was an early birthday present for Hindman, who turned 19 today as he re-captured the lead in overall driver standings. This race was so important for the Championship and the strategy and driving were executed beautifully. The

race started out dry but the team knew that rain was imminent. The decision on when or if to switch to rain tires was crucial. The call was made with just 45 minutes remaining when the track became wet enough to justify putting on rain tires. The timing of the decision to bring Edwards in for the final pit stop was key and the team’s decision worked out perfectly. In the closing laps, Edwards chased down fellow BMW driver Tom Kimber-Smith in the Turner car who was on slick tires and cleanly drove around him for the win. Hindman now carries a five-point lead heading into the last race. Edwards sits just ten points out of second place.

#46 Trim-Tex/ Cirocco & Ozzimo/ Atlas Acon/ DFL Interiors/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes: Finished P1

John Edwards: “My engineer made the call to keep me out as long as possible before we switched to rains and we knew from yesterday the track took awhile to dry. That was the call of the race right there. Trent and the team are now back in the Championship lead after an alternator issue at VIR. We got our momentum back. We started out the season well and then had a couple of bad races there in the middle but we need to keep this momentum rolling into Road Atlanta.”

Trent Hindman: “We were praying for rain. We came into this race figuring we would be strong but there are a lot of other strong cars in the GS class. We knew it was going to be a tough race and all the way through my first stint it definitely was tough. The car was handling well but just didn’t have the horsepower of the muscle cars. We knew we had a chance and when John got in the car. I never thought we would be in contention to win but that just comes down to the great work by the Fall-Line guys, the strategy by the engineers, and the amazing drive by John. During my stint I was trying to keep my nose clean and bring in the car in one piece, which fortunately I was able to do. A big thanks to all of the team and our partners Trim-Tex, Cirocco & Ozzimo, Atlas Acon, and DFL Interiors.”

Andrew Longe started the race from P21 but quickly moved up and was fighting in a pack of five cars in close quarters. He drove a long stint while engineers were trying to determine what the weather was going to do. A piece of debris lodged itself in the wheel of the right front which affected the handling of the BMW M3 and Andrew had to work extra hard in the hot temperatures and high humidity to keep the car on-track. Blackstock got in the car and moved up several spots while trying to stay on the lead lap. Blackstock came in first for rains and quickly realized this was the right move for both cars as the skies opened up. The pair nearly captured a top-ten but improved ten positions as they finished in eleventh.

#48 Starstruck/ Trianon Hotels Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes: Finished P11

Andrew Longe: “We had a strong run in our Fall-Line Motorsports BMW M3 here today at Circuit of the Americas. Although it is short of where we would have liked to finish as we always have our sights set on the podium, we are pleased with the result after minimal practice time and tricky conditions throughout the entire race. Shelby drove a great stint bringing it home in P11. We have been building off of our accomplishments each race and we look forward to carrying this momentum into the final race of the season at Road Atlanta. We truly owe our weekend to the entire Fall-Line Motorsports crew, the effort they put into getting the car on track for the second practice session yesterday was unbelievable and I cannot thank them enough for that.”

Shelby Blackstock: “Today was a good day for Fall-Line Motorsports! The #46 car got the win and the #48 car came home in 11th. The race was a lot of fun in the rain and very entertaining for the fans. Always great to race at this amazing track once again.”

Michael Harvey, Fall-Line Motorsports Team Manager: “I am extremely proud of the Fall-Line guys. Today we did not have the fastest car but we won this race on great strategy, amazing driving, and slick pit work. As always, the Fall-Line BMWs performed amazingly well as we leap frogged back into the lead heading in to the last race. I am very proud for BMW with a 1-2 finish, extending their lead in the manufacturers championship.”

To watch a replay of today’s race tune in to FOX Sports 1 on September 28 at 12p ET. Next up is the final round of the 2014 season at Road Atlanta on October 1-3.

DOUBLE PODIUM FOR FALL-LINE MOTORSPORTS CTSC TEAM IN INDY

Indianapolis, IN (July 27, 2014) – Fall-Line Motorsports accomplished a double-podium in the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge series this weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway as John Edwards and Trent Hindman finished 2nd while Shelby Blackstock and Joey Atterbury crossed the finish line in 3rd place.

Edwards started the race from P2 in a very tight field and fell to third for the first portion of the 2.5-hour race. He pitted from P3 after the #9 Camaro got around him at the start. The opening laps had bouts of light rain but nothing substantial to affect the strategy. Hindman took over the reigns with an hour-and-a-half remaining and after two caution periods, drove to P2. Hindman widens the gap on his Championship lead in the GS category while Edwards moves to P2, just 15 points behind.

#46 Trim-Tex/ Cirocco & Ozzimo/ Atlas Acon/ DFL Interiors/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes: Finished P2
John Edwards: “Well, it was a strong race. Trent drove a great stint and although we were not super optimistic about our cars with the new layout of the track so to come away with P2 is great. Most of our other contenders had a tough day, so we got all the points that we could have. We didn’t have the speed to keep with the Camaros, or at least the #6 car but all in all it was a good day.”

Trent Hindman: “It’s such a good feeling to be back up on the podium! John had a great run in qualifying and did an incredible job staying up front during his stint. The pit work was great, the car was great, everyone from Fall-Line did an awesome job all weekend. I was really pushing hard to try to and catch the #6 car but we just ran out of laps. Overall I am incredibly happy how it all went! A big thank you to our partners Trim-Tex, Cirocco & Ozzimo, Atlas Acon, and DFL Interiors for all of their support.”

Joey Atterbury started the race from P11 and from the very beginning of the race, was on alternate strategy. During the first full-course caution in the opening laps, lead engineer Nathan McBride called in Atterbury for tires and fuel when the leaders stayed out on track. This would prove to be the call that landed the #48 car on the podium. Atterbury led 16 laps and didn’t stop for a driver change until just over 50 minutes remaining in the race. This is when Blackstock got behind the wheel and drove the #48 home to claim the last step on the podium.

#48 Starstruck/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes: Finished P3

Joey Atterbury: “It’s a great feeling to come back into the CTSC paddock and podium at Indy with the Fall Line Motorsports team. The entire weekend was great, the #48 car showed good speed, but more importantly the team gave Shelby and I a great platform for a fast racecar. To have both the #46 and #48 cars end up on the podium is a huge accomplishment with how competitive this series is.”

Shelby Blackstock: “It was a amazing day for the Fall-Line BMWs. A double podium for the team while also extending the points lead for Trent Hindman is fantastic. It gives the whole team great momentum going into Road America!”

Michael Harvey, Fall-Line Motorsports Team Manager: “What a great day for the Fall-Line BMWs. We tried two different strategies today and both worked extremely well. The Fall-line crew worked tirelessly over the past few days to get the cars competitive so the result is a true testament to teamwork and dedication. All four drivers drove great stints with no mistakes; we had perfect pit stops and great pit calls. Nice to leave here extending our points lead as we head to our “home” race in Road America.”

FALL-LINE MOTORSPORTS CTSC TRIO HAS MIXED RESULTS AT ROAD AMERICA

Elkhart Lake, WI (August 11, 2014) – Fall-Line Motorsports fielded three BMW M3s in the GS category at Road America this weekend as part of the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase. Road America is essentially a home race for the team, as their race shop in nearby Illinois is just 125 miles away. Team owner Mark Boden and Fall-Line club racing regular Jack Kachadurian drove the #47 to finish P16 and Andrew Longe returned to co-drive with Shelby Blackstock in the #48 and finished P18. Championship leader Trent Hindman and John Edwards

started from the pole position in Saturday’s race but finished fourth in a dramatic race from start to end.

Edwards qualified on pole and started the race. Team strategists expected quite a bit of yellow and their prediction was spot on. Edwards drove a strong stint and pitted from P2 to hand over to Hindman who rejoined in first as the Fall-Line crew did another great pitstop to leapfrog the competition. Hindman then put his head down and set the second-fastest lap of the race and amassed a 6-second lead over the field. During another full-course caution, the entire field made final pit stops but Hindman was beat leaving the pits because another competitor only took two tires. He re-started the race from P2 and the top-five had a dogfight to the end. Trent was playing it smart, maintaining a clean drive. In a one-lap shoot-out at the end Hindman got squeezed from 3rd to 4th at the checkered flag as he drove a wise, savvy race.

#46 Trim-Tex/ Cirocco & Ozzimo/ Atlas Acon/ DFL Interiors/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes: Finished P4.

John Edwards: “It was an interesting race. It looked like we had a podium there in the final laps, as we expected it to stay yellow. Suddenly, it went back to green for one lap. Unfortunately, the gearing on the Camaro works really well out of turn five and ours doesn’t work so well out of five. I think Trent had nothing he could do there when he got passed my Robin (Liddell). It would have taken a heavy block to keep him behind. It was a little disappointing, especially as the Subaru dropped back, and Robin was able to get him at the line. That was another couple of points they scored on us in the championship. It’s a disappointing end to a strong day, but at the end of the day, we’re competitive at every race, and that’s what we need to keep up for the last few races for the championship.”

Trent Hindman: “I am definitely happy with a solid top-five run. John’s qualifying effort really helped us get off to a good start, and he drove a great stint to bring me the car from the front. For a while we we’re looking great but unfortunately those restarts really hurt us in the end. A huge thank you to everyone at Fall-Line for giving us a great car as per usual. Also a massive thanks to our partners Trim-Tex, Cirocco & Ozzimo, Atlas Acon, and DFL Interiors. Really looking forward to VIR.”

Team owner Mark Boden was back behind the wheel of a BMW M3 and brought a new co-driver in Jack Kachadurian who is a long-time Fall-Line driver in SCCA. This was Kachadurian’s first professional race and his first race in the BMW M3 in CTSC specifications. Kachadurian did a fantastic job and qualified the car P15 and was running in the top-ten before an off-track excursion left him stuck in the gravel outside of turn eight. Kachadurian recovered, only lost one lap, and made a pit stop to allow Boden to finish out the race. It was a victory for the Chicago native to complete his first 2.5-hour race in such a highly competitive field.

#47 Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes:

Mark Boden: “I am really proud of Jack and the fantastic job he did in his first GS race. It was great to drive with him at our home track and see how far along he has come. It was another flawless performance by the whole team and I am grateful for all of their hard work and effort this season. It will be an exciting next few races and hopefully we can continue our path to win the Championship.”

Jack Kachadurian: “As my first foray into professional racing, I have to consider this weekend a success. Having never driven the car before, I knew I had a lot of ground to cover this weekend. Thankfully, as usual, the Fall-Line guys prepped a great car that helped me progress throughout the weekend. Mark and I battled a brake issue throughout the race, but we were able to bring it home with a respectable finish.”

Andrew Longe returned as Shelby Blackstock’s co-driver after he missed the last round at Indianapolis. Longe started the race in P17 and kept his nose clean during the first stint for Blackstock. Blackstock got behind the wheel and was running as high as P6 before he missed a shift and damaged the motor with just six laps remaining in the race. It was a disappointing finish for the car that landed on the podium for the last round at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

#48 Starstruck/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes: Finished P18

Shelby Blackstock: “Today didn’t workout for the #48 Fall-Line Motors BMW M3. I made a mistake towards the end of the race that made us retire the car. It is very unfortunate for the team and I hope we have better luck next race.”

Andrew Longe: “Today did not end how we would have liked it to. We had good pace in the beginning stint of the race and the team did a fantastic pit stop to put us into contention for a podium. Shelby had a great first stint but motor issues plagued our hope of a podium in the closing laps of the race. This is a learning year for me as I continue to build my experience from every race. I am very happy with the improvements from Canadian Tire Motorsports Park and I am looking forward to Virginia International Raceway in just two week’s time. A huge thank you to everyone on the Fall Line Motorsports team for the countless hours of work they put towards the program!”

Michael Harvey, Fall-Line Motorsports Team Manager: “We experienced some mixed emotions at our home event, but once again the Fall-Line Motorsports BMW proved to be very competitive and although Road America is better suited to other platforms we feel pretty satisfied with our result. I cannot thank our whole crew enough for their time, effort and dedication to this program and they just get stronger and stronger each event. Today we had great pit work coupled with insightful strategy and great driving. We really look forward to the last three events of 2014. As always a huge Thank you to Trim-Tex, Ozzimo Cirroco, Atlas Acon and DFL for their amazing support.”

FALL-LINE EXTENDS CTSC POINTS LEAD IN CANADA

Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada (July 13, 2014) – Fall-Line Motorsports’ day at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park didn’t quite end as the GS team had hoped, but in the end, it was a positive one and ended on a high. Trent Hindman started second in his BMW M3 and he and co-driver John Edwards finished fourth. Shelby Blackstock returned behind the wheel of his machine with a new co-driver in Andrew Longe and the pair started and finished in seventeenth.

The #46 drivers started out brilliantly at a track that wasn’t conducive for much on-track passing. The Camaros seemed to have a competitive advantage over the field and Hindman settled in to fourth during his stint. Edwards got behind the wheel and held the lead after a great pit stop by the Fall-Line crew but lost it in his final stop because the fuel nozzle couldn’t fully engage due to the car’s position in the pit box. In the end, Edwards held on for fourth and this gave Hindman a six-point lead in the Championship standings.

#46 Trim-Tex/ Cirocco & Ozzimo/ Atlas Acon/ DFL Interiors/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes: Finished P4

Trent Hindman: “I think P4 was a good way to bounce back from the last two races which were pretty difficult for us. It was a little disappointing finishing where we did after we had the lead for a while but I think that was the true pace of the car. I don’t really think there was much more in it to stay ahead of the Camaros and the Mustangs. Overall all the Fall-Line guys did a fantastic job on pit lane and all throughout the weekend giving us a great car to really compete with all those other guys. I know we are really looking forward to Indy as historically we’ve had a strong car there in past years. Again, a big thanks to Trim-Tex, Cirocco & Ozzimo, Atlas Acon, DFL Interiors, and the National Kidney Foundation for all the support!”

John Edwards: “Well, it was a good points day but it was a little frustrating because nobody could pass. I only saw one pass and it was a Mustang passing a Mustang so it wasn’t too exciting. But, it was really on edge the whole race because the track was very low grip and greasy so it made it pretty tough. We lost a few spots in the pits because I was a little far from the wall and the fueler struggled to get the hose in so we lost a couple spots and probably a podium because of that. In the end it was still a good points day and we were ahead of all the cars we needed to be and extended our lead so Trent is back with a bit of a margin over the 13.”

Andrew Longe drove his first professional sportscar race today and though the results don’t necessarily show it, it was a small success. Longe had a steep learning curve this weekend stepping into a new car and a new track but welcomed the challenge. Shelby helped him to acclimate quickly and had Andrew not been the victim of an unavoidable incident involving a ST car, they would have finished much higher. But, this weekend was a learning experience for Longe and Indy is coming up next.

#48 Starstruck/ Trianon Hotels/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes: Finished P17

Shelby Blackstock: “Unfortunately it’s not how the #48 Fall-Line team wanted their day to go. Andrew had contact in the very beginning of the stint, which wasn’t his fault- an ST car hit him and knocked out the right rear tow so the car was hurt throughout most of the race. I’m not sure where we finished but it was further back. It’s unfortunate for the team but hopefully we can go to Indy and get a good finish. Thanks to everyone for all of their hard work and hopefully we can get a better result next time!”

Andrew Longe: “Unfortunately our race did not unfold as we had hoped today. In the early laps of the race we were the victim of an incident with a ST car that was out of our control. Shelby had a great stint in the car and we were able to get back on the lead lap despite the adversity we faced early on in the race. I am using this weekend as a learning experience and I know myself and the entire Fall-Line team are working very hard to build off of our progress this weekend so we can translate what we have learned here into a strong finish at Indianapolis.”

Michael Harvey, Fall-Line Motorsports Team Manager: “Not a bad day for the Fall-Line Motorsports BMWs. After a few tough events it was nice to run a clean trouble-free event and extend our points lead. All of our guys drove well and it was nice to see Andrew complete his first CTSC event although he did get assaulted by an ST car early. We now head off to Indy where we won last year.”

EDWARDS AND HINDMAN FACE MORE ADVERSITY AT WATKINS GLEN IN CTSC

Watkins Glen, NY (June 29, 2014) – All started well for the sole Fall-Line BMW M3 for the Continental Tire 150 at the Glen earlier today as John Edwards and Trent HIndman started the 2.5-hour race in third position. Just before halfway, misfortune struck the talented duo when Edwards was forced into a situation by another competitor that unfortunately compromised the car. Ultimately, this contact caused suspension damage that led to a blown tire. The points-leading car took the checkered flag from pit lane while getting repaired and were classified P19 at the close of the race.

Hindman started the race and drove a masterful stint maintaining his starting position and pitting from P4 when Edwards got in the car. The team made a fantastic pit stop, which put Edwards out in P1. He made contact with the #9 Camaro driven by Andy Lally that bent the suspension on the left side of the car. From then on Edwards drove with a damaged racecar and was running P16, still on the lead lap when the left rear tire blew causing further damage to the left side of the car. He made a pit stop to get a new tire and repair as much damage of the fender as possible, but unfortunately the bodywork was so damaged that the new tire was rubbing and he was forced to pit again.

This race weekend marks the second in a row where the #46 has been plagued with ill fortune but the entire Fall-Line crew and both drivers know they have what it takes to win the GS Championship. Edwards was understandably very upset with the outcome and both be and Hindman are true competitors who strive for perfection each and every time they step into the racecar. There is still a lot of racing left in the 2014 season and rest-assured the #46 will be back in victory lane before you know it.

#46 Trim-Tex/ Cirocco & Ozzimo/ Atlas Acon/ DFL Interiors/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes:

John Edwards: “Most of what I have to say shouldn’t be said publicly, but it’s a disappointing day. I feel especially bad for Trent, who did a great job in his stint. I think we were faster on old tires than the Camaros so we could have won today.”

Trent Hindman: “Our race was definitely character building. We were so strong in the early stages of the race; it was really a bummer when John got hit. I’m still incredibly proud of the whole Fall-Line crew for all of their hard work throughout the whole weekend. Also, a big thank you goes out to partners Trim-Tex, Cirocco & Ozzimo, Atlas Acon, and DFL Interiors. Really looking forward to getting back at it at Mosport, where our BMW will definitely be strong!”

Michael Harvey, Fall-Line Motorsports Team Manager: “Very disappointed to meet adversity in this way, both John and Trent drove great races and we had a car capable of winning today. Fortunately we are still leading the points as we take the Fall-Line BMWs north of the border.”

The next race for the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge will be at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park on Saturday, July 12.

FALL-LINE MOTORSPORTS MAKES THE MOST OUT OF A TOUGH SITUATION AT KANSAS

Kansas City, KS (June 9, 2014) – Fall-Line Motorsports completed the fifth race of the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge season on Saturday at Kansas Speedway and came into the weekend with a 25-point lead in GS Championship standings with drivers John Edwards and Trent Hindman. Shelby Blackstock and Ashley Freiberg were back in their BMW M3 after missing the last round at Lime Rock Park. Edwards and Hindman came down with engine gremlins early in the race which didn’t allow for them to compete for the win, but they maintain the Championship lead due their diligence and effort with a wounded car. Freiberg and Blackstock had a great race but were forced to serve a lengthy penalty which ultimately took them out of contention as well. Despite the difficulties, the 48 car finished 9th and the 46 made it to the checkered flag in P16.

The #48 started the 2.5-hour race in P14 and Freiberg drove the first stint moving all the way up to P4. She was running lap times that were the fastest on track at the time, staying competitive and keeping with the lead pack. She was involved in an incident with Andrew Davis which IMSA deemed avoidable and she was given a penalty. Although the team had some lengthy discussion with IMSA the penalty stood and Blackstock had to serve it . The earlier incident penalty was served as a drive through plus 50 seconds which put the #48 a lap down. Blackstock put his head down and drove an amazing race, climbing his way back up into the top-10.

#48 Rytec High Performance Doors/ Starstruck/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes: Finished P9, Fastest Lap 1:22:497.

Shelby Blackstock: “Overall, I am really proud of the whole Fall-Line team. Unfortunately we got a penalty at the beginning stage of the race but the team did a fantastic job setting the car up and it was a phenomenal car. If we didn’t have the penalty we would have been right up there. I don’t know if we could have caught the Aston Martin but I definitely think we could have had a podium which would have been awesome for the #48 car. I am really proud of the team to overcome this and get a top-10 finish and I can’t wait until the next race.”

Ashley Freiberg: “The car was awesome so it was a lot of fun driving around people at the start. Andrew (Davis) and I had a battle going on and he caught a ST car that slowed up more than he expected which then caused Andrew to slow up and I just had nowhere to go. I was fully locked up on the brakes hard and got into the back of him. I feel that I did everything I could to avoid hitting him and I don’t know what else I could have done better. It really was unfortunate that they penalized us as much as they did, but what can you do. Onwards and upwards.”

The #46 car started in P4 with Edwards behind the wheel and it became evident immediately that there was a problem. Edwards reported that the car was down on power and he was losing position. Engineers tried to diagnose the issue with feedback from the cockpit and engine data, but were unsuccessful in repairing it. The crew made several attempts to repair what they could in pit lane without going behind the wall and the decision was made to keep the car on track and attempt to finish despite running on seven cylinders. Hindman got in for his stint and was extremely optimistic and positive about the decision to finish the race in what was a severely wounded machine. The engine was using more fuel than normal and Hindman had to come in twice at the end for a splash of fuel in what ended up being a fuel mileage race. The duo maintains the Championship lead by a narrow five points now but are confident with their chances and the races ahead.

#46 Trim-Tex/ Cirocco & Ozzimo/ Atlas Acon/ DFL Interiors/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes:

John Edwards: “Immediately I knew we had an issue. The green fell and I went backwards. It was tough to just maintain and lose as few positions as possible, and it was frustrating to be so helpless out there just driving around. The team did a great job and I know did everything they could to try and figure out if there was anything we could do and at the end of the day I think we made the best of an unfortunate situation. Trent did great out there. After my stint I went to the tower to spot for him and he looked really, really good. I’m glad we stayed out and got as many points as we were able and the fact that we still retain the Championship lead is a testament to this team as to our hard work and determination. Everyone will have an off-weekend over the course of the year and I’m still confident with our chances.”

Trent Hindman: “Obviously today was a pretty tough day. We weren’t making one hundred percent power and I thought our day was going to end pretty early because John radioed in and said something was seriously wrong. Usually when the car is running on seven cylinders that’s not a good sign. At the end of the day we were able to run the full two-and-a-half hours. I’m really proud of the job everyone did because it could have been much worse and taken us out of the points lead. We still secured points and are still right there and made the most of a bad situation. That’s racing, we’re not going to win all of them but we sure are going to try. A huge thanks for everyone at Fall-Line, they really worked their asses off to keep us going and I appreciate them so much. Also a huge thanks to Joe Koenig at Trim-Tex, my other sponsors Cirocco & Ozzimo, Atlas Acon, DFL Interiors, and the National Kidney Foundation for sticking with us year.”

Michael Harvey, Fall-Line Motorsports Team Manager:
“Championships are won by minimizing the damage on your bad days and although this was a bad day for the Fall-Line BMW’s it could have been much worse. As always I am so proud of the Fall-Line crew and their talent and desire to never give up. We again had really fast cars so it is extremely frustrating to come away with a small points haul but adversity makes us stronger as a team. I would like to thank Rytec High Performance doors for coming on board for this event. We now head to Watkins Glen to defend our victory from last year, typically the Fall-line Motorsports BMWs are fast at the Glen and we will be very focused on executing cleanly and bringing BMW another victory. ”

Next up is Watkins Glen on June 26-28.

FALL-LINE MOTORSPORTS SCORES 2 TOP-10 FINISHES AT LIME ROCK PARK

Lakeville, CT (May 26, 2014) – This was the first time that Fall-Line Motorsports failed to finish on the podium in the 2014 Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge series as they raced at Lime Rock Park this past weekend. However, both BMW M3s competing in the GS category finished in the top-10 securing valuable points and extending their Championship lead with John Edwards and Trent Hindman, who finished 4th in yesterday’s race. Mike LaMarra and Terry Borcheller joined the team for the Lime Rock race, pulling double-duty as the raced in both the GS and ST races. They finished 9th in a successful result for the long-time racing pair.

Ashley Freiberg was on-hand to help out the team this weekend as she continues the hunt for sponsorship. She worked the signboard in the pits throughout the race and showed the team player that she is. Everyone is working extremely hard to make sure she is back behind the wheel of her Fall-Line BMW really soon.

The #46 car started on pole for the third consecutive race of 2014. Hindman captured the pole position in rounds 2 and 3 and Edwards inherited the pole at Lime Rock when qualifying was rained out. The grid was determined by points thus putting the #46 at the front once again. Edwards drove the opening stint of the 2.5-hour race and led every lap before pitting and passing off driving duties to Hindman. There was only one caution period in the entire race and this is when the #46 came to the pits from the lead. Unfortunately a miscommunication meant that the #46 pitted along with the 2nd placed car on the 2nd lap of this caution and this cost them track position. When everything shook out, Hindman joined the field in 7th when the race went green with just under one hour remaining. After a very strong drive and some great overtaking, Hindman made his way up to 4th place scoring the third fastest lap of the race. Hindman and Edwards maintain the Championship lead heading into Kansas Speedway.

#46 Trim-Tex/ Cirocco & Ozzimo/ Atlas Acon/ DFL Interiors/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driver quotes:

John Edwards: “Well, it was a good day for points since we finished ahead of the cars that are close to us, but I felt disappointed to not come away with our second win of the season. Our car was fast and Trent had a 17 second lead when the caution came out, but unfortunately we missed the call from IMSA that the pits were opening. Given that we were leading, there was no one ahead of us to follow into pit lane so we had to pit on the second lap that the pits were open, which cost us a lot of track position and ultimately our chance at winning. Trent drove a great stint to recover to P4 and keep our championship lead, and we’ll be ready to get back on the podium at Kansas.”

Trent Hindman: “Overall I’m very pleased with how our race went. John had a great opening stint and it definitely showed that we had a shot at getting a good result. The Fall-Line guys gave us an awesome car, and it was especially good at the end when we were trying to hunt down the leaders. Definitely a little disappointed at just missing out on the podium, but in the end it was a great points day for us and we’re still carrying a lot of momentum going into Kansas. A huge thank you once again to our partners Trim-Tex, Cirocco & Ozzimo, Atlas Acon, DFL Interiors, and the National Kidney Foundation. Really excited to get back at it!”

Borcheller and LaMarra pulled double-duty as they competed in their usual BMW in the ST category and also in the GS category since the two classes had their own race at the compact Lime Rock Park circuit. LaMarra had to start at the back of the pack since they didn’t carry any points into this weekend that determined the starting grid. LaMarra started in P25 but moved his way up to P17 completing a very strong first stint in his very first GS event before Borcheller got in the car. Borcheller climbed up to P9 when the checkered-flag fell, scoring a solid finish for the pair’s first foray in the GS category together.

Mike LaMarra: “We were happy to get a top 10 finish for the #48. The Fall-Line team gave us a really good car. We worked hard to overcome our starting position, but needed a few more positions early. In the end, we were happy with the result and had a lot of fun driving with Fall-Line team and in the GS field. We are thankful to the team for the opportunity.”

Terry Borcheller: “Lime Rock is a tough place. Starting toward the back of the grid because of the qualifying being rained out made it even tougher. Mike, myself, and all involved at Fall-Line gave it everything we had. One of the objectives for Mike was to get some experience in a GS car, and he stepped up as he always does. It was a great experience to run with them again, and we wish them well with their pursuit of a GS Championship.”

Michael Harvey, Fall-Line Motorsports Team Manager: “I am so proud of the Fall-Line Motorsports team, as again they put two very fast and consistent BMWs on the track at Lime Rock Park this past weekend. We leave a little bittersweet as a slight error in communication under yellow forced Trent to work a little harder than planned and although a better result could possibly have been achieved it is great to head to Kansas having extended our points lead.”

Next up is the Grand Prix of Kansas on June 6-7.
