2011 Skip Barber National Opener/Race 1 & Race 2 March 15-18, 2011 Sebring, Florida

March 28, 2011
There was so much excitement at the track during the Skip Barber National Race in Sebring because we were running during the week of the famed 12 Hours of Sebring. I missed almost an entire week of school but thanks to my principal, Ms. Wheldon, and all my teachers, I was given the opportunity to make up all my missed work. This allowed me to get on track three times before we had to qualify for Race 1 on Thursday morning. I was busy all week off the track as well. I met many different people and did some media training with Barbara Burns of BurnsGroup Unlimited, which I really enjoyed. I look forward to working with Barbara again soon because we really had a lot of laughs!
One of the coolest things that happened to me during the week was when I received my Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development Driver suit from John Doonan of Mazda. It is the most awesome suit I’ve ever had so I’d like to say thanks to everyone at Mazda for it!

Although I finished with two solid 5th place finishes in both races, I was a bit disappointed, especially in Race 2, where I qualified on pole. I definitely learned a lot and plan to correct my mistakes and move forward. I know I need to improve my on track performance at the next race and I will work very hard to do that. In the mean time, I’d like to thank God for all his blessings, Skip Barber Racing School, Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development, Racelite Protection, Sparco, my coach Jonatan Jorge, John Dean, Jim Altemus, and my parents for everything.
