Skip Barber National at VIR Preview

April 25, 2011
Wayside, N.J. – Six weeks off was anything but a vacation for Skip Barber National driver Trent Hindman. While he hasn’t been in a racecar since Round 2 of the 2011 BFGoodrich/Skip Barber National Presented by Mazda season at Sebring International Raceway in mid-March, Hindman has made good use of his time off to prepare for Rounds 3 and 4 this weekend at Virginia International Raceway.

“I spent the time off between races going to school followed by going to the gym to keep myself in race shape,” said the Wayside, N.J. driver. “On the weekends we would head to Raceway Park in Englishtown or New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville for some club karting. Last weekend I raced in the Rotax Regional Series at Oakland Valley Raceway Park (N.Y.) where I finished 5th on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday in Rotax Sr.”

Hindman’s computer also played an important role in is preparation for VIR, where he spent time practicing and racing on the iRacing online racing simulator.

“I’ve spent a lot of time on iRacing, relearning the track and racing with some of my fellow Skip Barber National drivers. It is both fun and an important part of being quick as early as possible in the race weekend. Instead of learning the track I’m figuring out how to go faster.”
