Stars of Karting New Castle Report
Heat 2 got off to a very clean start. Everyone made it through the first few laps without much contact. We ended up 3rd in that race which we were satisfied with. In Heat 3, we had the same result of a 3rd place finish which put us on outside pole for the final events.
In Final 1, I fell back to fifth on the start of the 11 lap race but I made my way back up to third with 9 laps to go. With 2 to go, I made a pass for first after battling it out with several other strong cadets. We were blessed with victory again! I was very surprised to get the win because I was worried about being freight-trained.
Final 2 saw 11 laps of great, competitive racing once again. I took the lead halfway through the race (which made Mike Doty nervous) and continued to lead until the white flag lap. Two drivers passed me going into Turn 14. Luckily I had enough time to get by one of them before the long straightaway. I was in second going into the final turn and I pulled to the outside for the pass. I held on for a very close victory and couldn’t believe how lucky and blessed I was to win!
I would like to thank God, Mike Doty of Mike Doty Racing, my Dad, my Mom who watched the live videos all weekend and nearly had a heart attack, H & S Motorsports’ Shawn and Jim Sharkey, Jamie Sieracki, Gary Woltjer, Tyler Dueck, and as always, Alex Napp and the Ferris family of our home track Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ. I really appreciate everything that everyone is doing for me.
