FALL-LINE MOTORSPORTS NABS ANOTHER FRONT-ROW STARTING POSITION AT ROAD AMERICA

Elkhart Lake, WI (August 9, 2013) – Fall-Line Motorsports earned another front-row starting position in the Continental Tires Sports Car Challenge Series (CTSCC) GS class today at Road America as newcomer Trent Hindman qualified P2 in only his second GRAND-AM event of his career.  Hugh Plumb put in a late lap during qualifying to grab the 6th starting position and Mark Boden will start 13th.

The Fall-Line Motorsports team is working towards the coveted hat trick by winning their third race in a row tomorrow. The three-car BMW team has three chances to do so with three strong cars, all of which are capable of continuing the winning streak. That’s a lot of threes.

17-year-old rookie Trent Hindman is continuing to turn heads in the #48 Cirocco Ozzimo/ Atlas Acon/ DFL Interiors/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW. Qualifying third for this first GRAND-AM race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway just two weeks ago was no fluke. This young man has continued to impress and putting the #48 on the front row at Road America today solidified that. Hindman issharing driving duties with Charles Espenlaub for the remainder of the season. Espenlaub currently sits fourth in overall GS driver standings.

Trent Hindman: “I am absolutely thrilled with the qualifying result from today!  The car felt great in all of the practice runs, but I’m extremely happy that we were able to convert that speed into a 2nd place run. Just a huge thanks to Charles (Espenlaub) for all of the help and hard work so far this weekend! Also, a big thanks to Rad, Claudio, and all of these Fall-Line guys for giving me a great car once again. I am really looking forward to how we manage during the race tomorrow!”

Hugh Plumb and Al Carter will start 6th in the #45 Eagle/ B+ Foundation/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW and are looking to turn their misfortune at Indianapolis into fortune at Road America. Hugh and Al have been struggling a bit with the #45 car this weekend trying to perfect the balance. The team and engineers have worked with the drivers to find a suitable set-up that works with the BMW on the 4-mile, high-speed track and all are satisfied with the progress that has been made.

The #46 Trim-Tex Drywall Products/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW has been to victory lane the past two races and Mark Boden, competing at his home track, hopes to continue that trend. David Donohue joins Boden this weekend, as regular co-pilot Bryan Sellers had a prior commitment. Boden qualified the car and will start 13th for the race tomorrow.

Team Manager Michael Harvey: “As the Fall-Line BMWs look to three-peat our campaign, we got off to a great start with a front row start for tomorrows race. We are very excited to be racing at Road America, “our home track” and I am so proud of our crew, engineers and drivers.  We aim to perform at the highest level every weekend and this one is no exception.”

The Road America race is the 8th round of the 2013 Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge season. The start of the 2.5 hour race is set for Saturday, August 10 at 12:30p ET and can be viewed LIVE on speed2.com where available. The race will be televised on SPEED TV Saturday, August 17 at 4:00p ET.

TOP-TEN FINISH FOR TRIO OF FALL-LINE MOTORSPORTS BMWs AT ROAD AMERICA

Elkhart Lake, WI (August 11, 2013) – Following two perfect races in the Continental Tires Sports Car Challenge series where Fall-Line Motorsports found themselves in victory lane, the team was going for three-in-a-row at Road America yesterday but fell just short. The three-car team of BMW M3s performed flawlessly, but in the end, the race was one based on fuel mileage and all three cars had to pit in the closing laps for a splash of fuel. Nevertheless, all three cars finished in the top-10, scoring valuable points and continuing the momentum that began just a few races ago at Watkins Glen. Road America is not a strong track for the BMWs so to have all three cars finish in the top-10 is a considerable success. The #46 car finished 5th, the #48 7th and the #45 finished 10th at yesterday’s race at Road America.

A crew member was hit in pit lane by another car that stopped for service and clipped him upon exiting the pits. Harrison Gillette injured his arm but is mostly just sore and bruised. We, at Fall-Line, are thankful for the helmet rule that GRAND-AM put into place in the CTSCC series earlier this season which helps to make pit lane incidents

The #46 Trim-Tex Drywall Products/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW was driven by Mark Boden and David Donohue this weekend.  Both Boden and Donohue have a lot of experience around the 4-mile track and their skill showed. Donohue crossed the finish line in 5th just as cars all around him were running out of gas but the #45 had enough to make it to the end because they stopped for a splash and didn’t gamble on a late yellow. It was a smart move because the last 75 minutes of the race were all green flag laps. Boden moved up to 6th in overall GS driver standings following their 5th place result.

The #48 Cirocco Ozzimo/ Atlas Acon/ DFL Interiors/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW driven by Trent Hindman and Charles Espenlaub started 2n

d and led several laps of the 2.5 – hour race. Hindman drove the first stint (an hour fifteen minutes) and it was great to see this young talent up front. The #48 was very strong and turned the third fastest lap of the race. Espenlaub still sits fourth in GS driver standings and is just four points out of third. Continuing to have consistent results in the #48 is key to finishing in the top-three in the Championship and a goal for the team.

Al Carter and Hugh Plumb finished 10th in the #45 Eagle/ B+ Foundation/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW. Plumb started 6th and had a great start, running as high as 5th. Al Carter took over the reigns after 30 minutes and drove a long two-hour stint. He was running 6th when he had to pit for a splash of fuel just four laps from the checkered flag.

Team Manager Michael Harvey:“We came to Road America with realistic expectations for the Fall-Line BMW’s and I am pleased with the result. The Fall-Line BMW’s performed perfectly all weekend and the crew did a marvelous job as always. With so little time before the next race our drivers did a great job optimizing speed and performance with a cautious approach to bring the cars back. We now look forward to Kansas, which will be a great track for the Fall-Line BMW’s. I would like to thank David (Donohue) for stepping in and doing a great job at Road America.”

Next up is next weekend’s SFP Grand Prix at Kansas Speedway on Saturday August 25. This will be the series’ first time racing in Kansas. To watch a replay of the Road America race, you can view it on August 17 at 3:00 PM ET on FOX Sports 2.

FALL-LINE MOTORSPORTS QUALIFIES IN KANSAS

Kansas City, KS (August 16, 2013) – It was not the result that Fall-Line Motorsports wanted for their three BMWs in the Continental Tires Sports Car Challenge series this evening as they qualified for the SFP Grand Prix at Kansas Speedway, but, nevertheless, the three car team will tackle the 2.5-hour race tomorrow knowing they have a chance to once again visit victory lane. The #48 car will start 8th, the #45 14th, and the #46 15th.

Qualified P8, 1:21.824.

Charles Espenlaub qualified the #48 Cirocco Ozzimo/ Atlas Acon/ D Interiors/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW for the first time this season and will drive the first stint in the race tomorrow. This is an alternate strategy from what he and co-driver Trent Hindman have been running. This is Hindman’s third race in CTSCC and qualified third for his first race and second for his second race. The young driver led laps last weekend at Road America and hopes to earn his first podium this weekend at Kansas.

Qualified P14, 1:22.655.

Hugh Plumb and Al Carter will start 14th in the#45 Eagle/ B+ Foundation/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW and Plumb will once again start the race. He has led laps in the past several races up until Road America, which was not a strong track for the BMW M3s. Plumb and Carter, have driven a phenomenal season, but the results have not come to them. This weekend Plumb and Carter are determined to capture another podium finish to add to their third place at Watkins Glen earlier this year.

Qualified P15, 1:22.832.

The #46 Trim-Tex Drywall Products/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW was qualified by Mark Boden who is pulling double-duty this weekend, also driving the team’s GT car in the Rolex Series. Boden has been to victory lane twice this season and has risen to 5th in GS overall driver standings. A solid results for Boden and co-driver Bryan Sellers will help to solidify Boden’s position in the Championship.

Team Manager Michael Harvey: “A solid effort by the Fall-line Boys although it appears the Kansas track is not best suited to our BMWs. Race day is always different and we will tackle this event just like all the others with solid pit stops, good strategy and smart driving as we look forward to gathering more points.”

The SFP Grand Prix is set to start at 4p ET tomorrow, Saturday August 16 and LIVE timing can be viewed on GRAND-AM.com

FALL-LINE MOTORSPORTS SCORES A PAIR OF TOP-10s at KANSAS SPEEDWAY

Kansas City, KS (August 18, 2013) – It was an uphill battle for the three Fall-Line Motorsports BMW M3s as they did not qualify as well as they would have liked for yesterdays’s SFP Grand Prix at Kansas Speedway, Round 9 of the 2013 Continental Tires Sports Car Challenge Series. In true Fall-Line form, all three BMWs made their way to the front with the #45 and #46 leading laps and two cars finishing in the top-ten. The #46 finished P4, with Bryan Sellers back behind the wheel and the #48 finished P7 with Trent Hindman closing out the race. The #45 lost drive just over halfway through the race and finished 17th after heading back to the garage on lap 48.

Finished P4, Fastest Race Lap 1:22.126.

Mark Boden drove the first stint in the#46 Trim-Tex Drywall Products/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW and after qualifying 15th, pitted from the lead with an hour-and-a-half remaining in the race under full course caution. This set-up Bryan Sellers in a good position, and he came out 10th after all the pit stops shook out. Most competitors made their stops before the yellow, but the #46 just barely missed it, thus, pitting under caution and losing valuable track position. Sellers quickly moved up and stayed between 3rd and 5th place for the entirety of the race. He made a last-minute move on the final re-start with two laps remaining to grab the final spot on the podium but could not hold off the Roush Mustang driven by Shelby Blackstock. He didn’t try to force a move on the faster car and settled for P4 which earns solid points for the #46 and Mark Boden.

Finished P7, Fastest Race Lap 1:21.908.

Charles Espenlaub started the race in the #48 Cirocco Ozzimo/ Atlas Acon/ D Interiors/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW which is a change in the typical driver order for the #48. Espenlaub was the strongest of the Fall-Line cars in the first stint, running as high as 4th after making an impressive  pass into turn 1 on a competitor. Espenlaub was the first Fall-Line car to pit, handing the driving duties over to Trent Hindman after a green-flag stint over an hour long. Hindman has become quite the young driving sensation in just a short amount of time as the 17-year old took over finishing duties in his third CTSCC race ever and drove a fantastic race. He drove solidly, stayed out of trouble, took care of his equipment and finished 7th. He never gave up, turning his fastest time of the race on the final lap.

Finished P17, Fastest Race Lap 1:22.621.

Hugh Plumb started 14th in the #45 Eagle/ B+ Foundation/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW but quickly moved up through the field and left the mid-packers in his dust. With 45 laps complete, he pitted just before the caution and put Al Carter in 4th position when he began his stint.. Carter took over but soon it became clear that there was a terminal problem with the engine. The team rolled the dice and decided to keep him out with the hopes that it would hold on to the end of the race. Sadly, it did not and the engine blew in spectacular fashion with an hour left in the race.

Team Manager Michael Harvey: “While two out of three is not a bad way to finish the race, I feel for the #45 car who just can’t seem to catch a break. All of our drivers and crew did a fantastic job to get all three cars up to the front of the field where they should be and even though this is not one of the stronger tracks for the BMWs we made the most of it and gained points for the #46 and the #48. With just two races remaining, I still feel that we’ve hit our stride and can continue to deliver solid results for all three cars.”

A replay of the Continental Tires Sports Car Challenge SFP Grand Prix can be viewed on August 18 at 4p ET. Next up is Round 10 on September 7-8 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

FALL-LINE MOTORSPORTS STRUGGLES WITH QUALIFYING AT LAGUNA IN CTSCC

Monterey, CA (September 8, 2013) – Since arriving at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca Friday for the promoter test day, the three Fall-Line BMWs have not been pleased with their results. All three cars struggled to get up to speed in the test sessions on Friday but did improve in yesterday morning’s practice sessions. However, much of the Continental Tires Sports Car Challenge GS field also picked up speed in qualifying which leaves the three Fall-Line cars starting 7th, 14th, and 16thfor the 2.5-hour race.

While qualifying was somewhat of a disappointment for the team, they have overcome much worse starting positions and know it is a long race. The cars will be good on long runs and will be consistent over the course of the drivers’ stints so the longevity and reliability is there.

Hugh Plumb qualified the #45 Eagle/ B+ Foundation/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW and is the highest starting Fall-Line car in 7th position. Plumb was second quickest in the second practice session on Saturday but couldn’t find any more speed for qualifying in the afternoon. Carter will be driving the second stint in the BMW M3 and finishing the race before starting the Rolex race in the team’s GT car.

Trent Hindman drove the #48 Cirocco Ozzimo/ Atlas Acon/ DFL Interiors/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW in qualifying and will be 14th on the grid for tomorrow’s race. The ABS went out in the #48 car early in the qualifying session so Hindman had to make the best without it, which obviously put him at a disadvantage. The driver combination of HIndman and co-driver Charles Espenlaub has been very strong the past three races they have driven together. Hindman will have to work his way through more traffic at the beginning of the race than he is used to but this young driver has the patience and skill to navigate to the front.

Mark Boden turned the 16th quickest time in the #46 Trim-Tex Drywall Products/ Fall-Line Motorsports BMW and will start there for the race. The #46 car is strong and both Boden and co-driver Bryan Sellers have overcome adversity in the past to come back and win races from mid-pack starting positions. Today’s race will be no different.

Team Manager Michael Harvey: I am so proud of the Fall-Line guys as they never give up. After a couple of interesting days the Fall-Line BMW’s are ready to march towards the front. We have strong race cars as always and a long race in which to navigate our way forward.

Next up is the race as part of the Continental Tire Sports Car Festival, Round 9 of 11 of the 2013 Continental Tires Sports Car Challenge will be held on Sunday, September 8 at 1p ET. A re-broadcast is available on Fox Sports 1 on Sunday, September 15 at 4p ET.
